Dear Neighbors,
Our pocketbooks are facing serious challenges with rising energy costs, increasing numbers of home foreclosures, and the high price of healthcare. With our economy slowing, state and local leaders face the same challenges educating our children, and keeping us safe when we walk our neighborhood streets or visit a doctor’s office.
Our past goals have been ambitious, but after talking with all of you, I know they’re important. Together, we found a way to accomplished so much.
Many of our neighbors, struggling to make ends meet between paychecks, turn to the payday loan shops to tide them over. We’ve stopped the outrageous interest rates some companies charged them.
The Nevada Tax Commission – with its power to alter or cut tax bills – can no longer deliberate in secret. It’s now covered by the open meetings law. It’s a step forward for open government.
As a mother myself, I’ve seen the power of early learning, how youngsters develop their skills more fully. Now more Nevada children benefit from full-day kindergarten.
As always, your ideas and comments are helping us meet our state’s challenges. To send me a note, just click here. And thanks for taking the time to make Nevada a better place.
Sincerely,

Barbara Buckley
Assembly Speaker
Representative from Assembly District 8
